Wolf&Disaster presents: Diane Arbus at Foam Amsterdam

As one of her B-day presents this year Miss Wolf got a book of Diane Arbus from a lovely photographer friend that warned her avant-reading that those photos were at the same a caress and a slap.
"My favorite thing is to go where I've never been.'' - used to say the american photographer and writer Diane Arbus (1923-1971).

Known for her black and white photos of deviant and marginal people as dwarfs, giants, transgender people, nudists, circus performers or of people whose normality seems ugly or surreal.
But most of all her work scream true in through this unknown and awkward faces. Most of all it makes us think about all the use of technologies to cover peoples flows or the ''blurredfication'' of images in order to make them interesting enough to be called art.

"Freaks was a thing I photographed a lot . . . . Most people go through life dreading they'll have a traumatic experience. Freaks were born with their trauma. They've already passed their test in life. They're aristocrats."
Some of Diane's Arbus works can be seen at the FOAM in Amsterdam from 26th October until 13th of January 2013.

Wolf&Disaster presents:Pop is the new Black

Pop Noire, Pop Noire, Pop Noire...
Everybody is talking about it!

John and Jehn's Label assumes its influences.
Bad news for the Ayatollahs of Rock'nRoll.
It puts together their side-projects with very talented people. Lescop and his French Cold Wave, loud, honnest and addictive.
Savages, a cold storm ravaging the dancefloor, like The Organ used to do,and of course John and Jehn and their dark experiments especially well done in this "Looking for You".

Three excellent reasons for adolescents of all ages to be a bit more melancholik...

Wolf&Disaster presents:Roman Polanski: A Film Memoir (2012)

Wolf & Disaster are not only about music, we love cinema as well.
Last week we randomly came across an inspirational documentary about a great film director:
-Roman Polanski - A Film Memoir.

90 minutes about his dramas, his past, art and how does elements are so present in his filmography.

This intimate 'talk' with Polanski is conducted and produced by Andrew Braunsberg, a long time friend
of the director in his house is Gstaad Switzerland.

At a certain moment Braunsberg quote the famous poem 'If' from the English writer Rudyard Kipling: 'If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same'

We believe that it is a pretty good resume of this must see documentary about one of the greatest minds of the modern cinema. As well good opportunity to meet the man behind the big screen.

New Ep : Diät - Pick A Line/No Accent 7

Absolutely sick power Post-Punk coming from Berlin, don't no much about these dudes except that the band was created solely to open for a Total Control gig in Berlin, 2/3 of the band hail from Australia and just a touch of curiosity that one of my favourite sounds coming from Berlin White Hex are also Australian Berlin residents, this 7" banger is totally for those in touch with the Vikings bands like Holograms, Ice Age and Cola Freaks. "Pick A Line/No Accent 7" is out on Iron Lung.

Wolf&Disaster presents: Jean Moulin Rouge

Tonight, we would like to introduce Jean Moulin Rouge from Bordeaux France.
After having been one of the most innovative DJ in town, he switched to a full mix of Music and Videos.
What makes the difference is his ability to find the most Trashy, underground dirty tracks.
It has always been like that.
Hank can tell, he teamed up with him for a few years in The Ambiancers, back in the days when Electro Clash was so fun in The Zoobizarre!!

Sit down and enjoy some dark synths!

Documentary : Music and the Psychedelic Mind

A great short Pitchfork documentary about the link between psychedelics and music featuring opinions from White Fence, The Growlers, Dr Strange Loop, Bear In Heaven and more.

Video : Opossum - Getaway Tonight

This video and track popped in the early 2012 but its so awesome that totally deserves a post. Opossum is New Zealander Ruban Nielson brother from Unknown Mortal Orchestra Kody Nielson, the track sounds like a poppy space jam with undercover drum n bass beats and with the tripy space oddity style video "Getaway Tonight" just gets better and better. Taken from the debut LP Electric Hawaii.

New LP : Regal - Misery, Redemption and Love

Few months ago the now Belgium based psych garage rockers Regal were at our place and fortunate enough had the demos from the new album and it was instantly love at the first sound. I always complain about that a lot of times garage and psych bands are much better live than the records but in this case i bet this album is gonna be a total banger. The album is out on Abzin records soon and here is your change to listen to the first tracks from Misery, Redemption and Love.

New Single : Those Foreign Kids - Nude Pollution

New bomb from one of my favourite Dutch bands Those Foreign Kids, "Nude Pollution" is taken from the North Holland Haarlem DIY own label Geertruida, Copenhaarlem a split 10" of collaboration between Haarlem and Copenhagen bands with Himmelschiff Excelisor, The Beardy Durfs, The Treasure of Grundo and TFK.

New Video : Bare Wires - School Days Are Over

“school days are over, you’re getting older, just dream your life away, you’re better off this way.” Checkpoint Charlie or reality check on the new music video from Oakland's lo-fi Bare Wires, "School Days Are Over" is the most recent audio erection from Matthew Melton and its included on the upcoming LP Idle Dreams out 30 October on Southpaw Records.

Festival : Le Guess Who? Fuzzbox with Ty Segall, Fidlar, Allah-Las ...

LE GUESS WHO? festival in the city of Utrecht in the Netherlands is regarded to be one of the best music festivals in this country, Utrecht itself is known to be the capital of the alternative culture so its not surprising at all to see such an amazing line up of artists.

Get excited and get stoked, FUZZBOX promises to be one of the most exciting day of this year and a must to any garage rock fans because with the prince Ty Segall are arriving Los Angeles favourites trash surf rock super hyped since last year Fidlar, and plenty of other amazing bands with lost of fuzz and psych vibes like Allah-Las, White Fence, Brat Farrar among many others.
