Lost of new wonderful music and projects coming from the stellar London/Berlin label Erased Tapes , after their recent stunning albums from Nils Frahm "Fetlt" and everyones favorite A Winged Victory For The Sullen S/T featuring Dustin O'Halloran and Adam Witzie here are more news form the label.

Following the 2009 "Found Songs" where Ólafur Arnalds released during a week a free song everyday, now the Iceland composer presents from his own living room in Reykjavík the "Living Room Songs", this time the songs will be preform live and recorded for your complete audiovisual pleasure experience ... stream the videos and grab the free mp3 here

Wonderful new single and video from the newest Berliner resident the multi-instrumentalist Peter Broderick, "Old Time" is taken from the upcoming documentary score "Music for Confluence".

"I had been asked to make the score for a documentary film called Confluence. The film is based in the Lewiston, Idaho area, not too far from where I grew up in the USA, and it chronicles several mysterious cases of young girls found murdered or gone missing around 1980, all of which seem to lead back to one man who for a variety of reasons has not been able to be charged with these crimes"

The Berlin composer Nils Frahm is probably still flavoring his amazing new album but its time go back to work and his fans are eager for more releases, the new EP comes in shape of a thank you to his label mate Peter Broderick ...

"This session was recorded in just one night sometime in the beginning of 2010. Peter Broderick loved the sound of this synthesizer so much, he asked me to record some solo sketches with it. This is what I came up with. I didn't use any overdubs or punch-ins. See it as a synthesizer solo performance." – Nils Frahm

Nils Frahm - Felt

The wonderful label Erased Tapes has released the newest piece of art from the Berlin based pianist and composer Nils Frahm. I got more acquainted with the work of Nils Frahm last year with the his duo with Anne Muller excellent "Seven Fingers" exploring Modern Classical, IDM and sonic glitchy soundscapes with a lot of class.

"Felt" not altogether so different but explores the intimacy of a Modern Classical raw piano with a soft pop sensibility in a stunning and introspective way the use of space and silence like his predecessors Sylvain Chauveau and Rachel Grimes, guaranteed to be a wonderful soundtrack to gaze at Mark Rothko masterpieces.

Track nr. 2 "Less" is a absolute masterpiece exploring the subtleness of those elements together with microcosmic field recording ambients.

"Originally I wanted to do my neighbours a favour by damping the sound of my piano. If I want to play piano during the quiet of the night, the only respectful way is by layering thick felt in front of the strings and using very gentle fingers. It was then that I discovered that my piano sounds beautiful with the damper."

A few weeks ago , Hildur Ingveldardóttir Gudnadóttir has released a magisterial record on Touch , my favorite of the year , not only a contender to best record of the year , but already an instant Contemporaneous Classic.

Its a must have and especially a must see , Im quite excited to see Hildur live in 4 weeks and to have the opportunity to ask her a few questions about " Without Sinking " and her marvelous Cello.

Mountains is Brendon Anderegg and Koen Holtkamp, friends since their middle school days. The duo were brought together by mutual artistic and musical interests, and both ended up at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. It was during this time that they began exchanging musical ideas and compositions which led to them founding the Apestaartje label in 1999. As their collaborations and individual projects blossomed, they decided to create Mountains as a vehicle for live performance.

A love of sculpting sound in front of an audience is at the heart of Mountains. The group’s third album, Choral, (their first self-titled release and second album Sewn were both on Apestaartje), is the culmination of their work to date and a balanced mix of the first two efforts. Mountains is often compared to artists such as Brian Eno and Fennesz citing their extended melodies and their unique broad guitar work. Mountains seamlessly blend pastoral electronic sounds with both field recordings and a plethora of acoustic instruments. The resulting soundscapes are broad in scope and rich in detail. The effect is incredibly sublime and hypnotic as the sounds slowly wrap themselves around each other and alter themselves in the mind of the listener. 10-20’s self titled album is a claustrophobic hulk of a release, constructed from parts of discarded machinery, short-circuiting currents of krautrock, broken hip hop structures, dense aquatic substreams and spectral elements, all of which are funnelled towards a single cohesive hypnotic pulse.

Based in devon, the coastal and elemental forces of the producer’s environment is evident in the scope of intricate sounds layered and woven into rough shorn textures, where only a filtered ghostly impression of club-land’s influence can be discerned within the resultant sound.
