One of the best videos i've seen this year , unusual , radical and not following the industry patterns , its really good to see him back.

A work of art that explores the relationship between nature, motion and sound, The Interpretation takes us on a languid journey through a slowly flourishing forest. Hinting at vague memories of microbiology and rotating through a cool organic spectrum of greens, blues, browns, blacks and whites; this motion-based work will entrance its viewer as the forest evolves. The Interpretation is set to a minimal score filled with authentic sounds of nature, complimenting the environmental essence of the visuals. Visuals by Michael Paul Young.

This interactive sound installation deals with exploring the physical connection between people and technology. A tangible user interface, taking the form of a glove is worn by the participant as they are invited to interact with an analogue tape surface. As the glove comes in contact with the tape, sound is generated and can be manipulated via touch and movement. This piece intends to explore the somewhat obsolete medium of tape through a playful and sonically interesting experience, appealing to a wide audience. the pre-recorded sound on the tape is a random collage of compiled material including a range of musical styles & found recordings.
This piece is informed by works such as Nam June Paik’s “Random Access Music” and Stockhausen’s Tape experimentations as well as the notion of using analogue tape as an instrument.

" Night Must Fall " - Dc Recordings - 2008

Padded Cell, Drawing inspiration from bands as diverse as Goblin, The Velvet Underground, Arthur Russell, Material, Bush Tetras, and Carl Craig, this duo's analogue fetishism is tinged with creeping psychosis but makes for a sound that is as soulful and emotional as it is dark and narcotic. The making of "Night Must Fall" has involved a list of collaborators that hints at this rich diversity: Dennis Young (Liquid Liquid) plays percussion and marimba, Chloe Battant from London punk funk band Battant (Kill The Dj) delivers vocals; guitars and synths come from sonic necromancer Giallos Flame (Analogue Screams / DC Recordings), and Italian producers The Diaphanoids (Bearfunk) deliver strings, synths and vocals.

Working together with the up-and-coming Norwegian vocalist Therese Aune, who sings on “His Freefloating Affection” and “With Love, Etc.” (duet with Rudi), the duo Beneva vs. Clark Nova could be compared to the off the wall pop sound of Hanne Hukkelberg and Silje Nes. Mix this with the electro-acoustic world of Four Tet, the complex rhythms of Autechre, the indietronica of Broadcast, plus a good dose of charm, melodic oddity and some introverted enthusiasm, and you’ll maybe get a grasp of what Sombunall is all about. Tracks like “88 Kilos of Excrement” and “Thora’s Inferno”, with their catchy rhythms and melodies, have been small ‘hits’ on the duo’s Myspace site. The uplifting “Nothing, Only Worthwhile” rounds off the album, which we believe is one of the most exciting releases of 2008. Fenetre Records

No matter who or what he calls himself, Will Oldham has always been uniquely capable of making colossal leaps in tone between breaths, and from track to track Superwolf nobly maintains that practice, drifting gracefully from classic-rock stomps to whispery dirges. Consequently, Oldham followers may recognize Superwolf as a welcome midway point between Oldham's past aliases, as it hops from shambling, Viva Last Blues-ish, Palace Music-era shakes to dark, Master and Everyone haunts. "Beast for Thee" matches a gorgeous, barely-there melody with self-deflating lyrics ("Why are you kind to me?/ You could so easily take me in your arms and see/ A donkey"), Oldham's quivering pipes and Sweeney's fragile guitar coalescing into a soft, droning, and tremendously pretty whole. The equally excellent "Blood Embrace" features some of Oldham's heartiest vocals, each word strong and full, floating above dark electric guitar swirls, dodging film samples of a faithless woman whispering to an unnamed lover, crafting an atmosphere so tense and ominous that you almost can't help twisting your face around to peep over your shoulder. The Finger - Oded Ezer new typo art project, is an imaginary landscape of Hebrew letters. It was originally created as a homage to the Israeli poet, choreographer and art critic Hezi Leskley (1952-1994), echoing the title of his first book, published in 1986.

Argentinean artist Marcelo Pombo creates large, colorful paintings that are rooted in a surrealist vocabulary and contain abstracted landscapes, architecture and figurative elements. The artist approaches his paint application through pointillism, employing thousands of small dots to assemble this primitive yet deliberate imagery. Pombo, who currently lives and works in Buenos Aires, is a prominent artistic figure within South American contemporary art. Daily Serving

These New Puritans - beat pyramid [2008]

One of the key acts in the great 2008 hype frenzy, These New Puritans could hardly sound more 'now'. You can hear the influence of perennially hip new wave touchstones like The Fall and XTC in here, but this band's grasp on excitable, electronically reinvigorated rock music is bound to see them touted as 'this year's Klaxons' (along with any other indie band you could dance to). Deerhunter would also be a valid name to throw into the mix, particularly when you consider short vignette tracks like 'Doppelganger' breaking up the flow of acoustic four-to-the-floor rhythms. Don't let any of this fool you into thinking Beat Pyramid is derivative or standard-issue in any sense though. There's a real intelligence behind the album in terms of its writing, its instrumentation and the way it's all presented. The song titles alone should give some indication of how distinctly non-standard all this is, reading like a list of randomised, computer-generated text ('C. 16th ±', '£4' and '4' spring to mind immediately) and tending to flow like some shuffle-generated playlist based on what you'd imagine Thom Yorke's iPod to be filled up with. While the record is structurally very smart - very in keeping with the anti-album zeitgeist - there's a real intelligence behind this music in terms of its writing and instrumentation, from the impeccable, angular pop of 'Elvis' and 'Mkk3' to the jerky glitch textures of 'En Papier', it's all flat-out brilliant. An enormously impressive debut album this, and one that comes very highly recommended. - Boomkat
