The process: several improvisations are reworked into three brief tracks, one edited by each member of the trio. Then these pieces are mined for a few very short fragments. These, in turn, form the core of a much longer piece, painstakingly assembled around repeated motifs salvaged from the wreckage. Very slowly - over four years of intermittent activity - a long piece comes into being. As it gets longer more space and silence enters the music. The trio's working method on "till the old world's blown up ..." is one of sudden flash and meltdown, followed by a gradual process of cellular division. This inexorable metastatic activity builds a new organism with a peculiar life of its own, far removed from its sources. Ghostly twangs of Americana, Ligeti-esque glissandi, hesitant electronic sputters, luminous vibraphone - all these and more combine and recombine, separated by stretches of nothing at all and driven by an urge to become ever more abstract. Speaking about visits to Amsterdam , the mighty MSTRKRFT are one of the confirmed names for these year 5DAYSOFF Festival in Amsterdam , they will be playing @ Paradiso on the 2nd of July.

MSTRKRFT (pronounced Master Craft) is the pet project of Toronto musician Jesse F. Keeler ( Death From Above 1979 ) and studio wizard Al-P.

Enter MSTRKRFT, a package of house, hip-hop, grime, punk, and all kinds of electronic experimentation rolled into one. In a little over a year they have developed a cult following of dance fans around the world and have remixed just about everyone including The Kills, Annie and Wolfmother’s track “Woman” for which they have been nominated for a Grammy for Best Remix.

Enjoying a cult-like following all over the world, L.A-based kozyndan are adored for their irresistible, digitally painted renditions of contemporary urban cityscapes and whimsical re-interpretions of Japanese ukiyo-e prints, which reflect their “unease and love of the modern world.”
BENEATH THE SURFACE will introduce two brand new editions of their trademark panoramics, a large-scale wallpaper cityscape, plus a series of one-off paintings and limited editions prints of never-before seen works, exclusively for Maxalot.

Michael J. Schumacher is a composer, performer and installation artist based in New York City.

He works predominantly with electronic and digital media, specializing in computer generated sound environments which evolve continuously for long time periods. He imbues these self-creating structures with an abundance of sonic material, resulting in forms that flow through a wide range of moods, timbral combinations and textural densities. In their realization, Schumacher uses multiple speaker configurations which relate the sounds of the installation to the architecture of the exhibition space. Architectural and acoustical considerations thereby become basic structural elements.

Schumacher’s sound installations have been heard at Art in General, Apex Art, PS 1, the Queens Museum and The Kitchen and Sculpture Center in New York City, CCNOA in Brussels, the Technical University and Podewil in Berlin, the Museum for Applied Arts in Frankfurt , the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon, Triskel Arts Center in Cork, Ireland, Transmissions Festival in Chicago, SFIFEM in Sante Fe, the Waveform Festival in Sydney, Via 7 Festival in Paris, )toon Festival in Haarlem, and others.

Adapted from the legendary comic book series created by Will Eisner, "The Spirit" is a classic action-adventure-romance written for the screen and directed by genre-twister Frank Miller (creator of "300" and "Sin City"). It is the story of a former rookie cop who returns mysteriously from the dead as the Spirit (Gabriel Macht) to fight crime from the shadows of Central City. His arch-enemy, the Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson) has a different mission: he's going to wipe out Spirit's beloved city as he pursues his own version of immortality.
