Super cool animation and new video from psapp.
Psapp are known for their humour on stage, throwing cats (hand-made by the band) into the audience and their highly eclectic music videos.

The early evening darkness had already descended on Austin when Juliette Lewis and her new band, the New Romantics arrived at Big Orange during the Friday night hours of the South By Southwest music festival in March. Lewis looked modestly fatigued, with an over-sized sun hat on, a short-cut belly shirt and jeans – nothing of which was synchronized by color or style – and it couldn’t have been a more fitting combination of attire for the free form, cultishly worshipped actress/musician. She informed us that she’d just begun to drink Guinness and after a long day of performing and press behind her new ensemble, the New Romantics, she was in need of some thick, brown beer spirits. There was no Guinness in the studio so she sought stuff out across the street at The Scoot Inn, where an official showcase was already underway in the dive-y environs.

Kams , shrieker Rachel-Mary Callaghan sounds like the sort of person you wouldn't leave any of your loved ones alone with - sons or daughters, family pets, sweethearts or cherished elders. Most foolhardy of all would be to pair her up with your father, but that's what the lyrics to "Male Bonding" demand: to dance with daddy, to drugs with daddy, to bed with daddy, all to a vicious backbeat of post-punkish drums and guitar stabs, both of which are played by former Test Icicle Rory Atwell. The London quartet's debut album Spayed is full of such heart-shattering threats and is out now. Rcrdlbl

Last thursday i was in Patronaat to watch , i mean listen to the Fuck Buttons.
Its not a record i could listen on a daily basis at home , but live , fuck , is like being pushed into a black Hole by a sharp noisy wind , that cuts you up into metal defragmented droned audio signals. Highly recommended .
It would be difficult to try find a similar act not to say impossible , in a more minimal approach you could find on the Stunning Ben Frost - Theory of Machines album the same type of intensity.

" Cloudbuster " - Gomma - 2008
Electronic / Alternative

Italian Mathias Modica and German partner Jonas Imbery (known as Munk and Leroy Hanghofer have been releasing their own music as well as records by other artists such as WhoMadeWho, Box Codax and Headman on their little label Gomma for a few years. The label (according to NME: “Gomma is like a German DFA!”) is part of a new scene of freestyle labels that connect music with alternative art and underground fashion, such as Ed Banger records, Tigersushi and Kitsune in Paris, DFA in New York, Eskimo in Belgium.

Munk released two much acclaimed albums, the most recent one “Aperitivo” (2004) featuring James Murphy from LCD Soundsystem. In 2000/2001 they released the No-Wavedisco/Postpunk compilations ANTI NY and TEUTONIK DISASTER that preceded a big wave of similar releases.

Live Fast! Die Old! is the first single to be taken from Munk’s new album Cloudbuster set for release in June 08. As well as Asia Argento the album features collaborations with Matty Safer (The Rapture), 70s German movie icon Klaus Lemke and Telonius

" Violets " - Ghostly - 2008
Electronic / IDM / Experimental

The recurring theme of Violets is indeed a fascination with the human voice – voyeuristic telephone and CB conversations, the musings of a girl on dictaphone, crowd noises from anti-war rallies – these elements hover just beneath the lush and temperamental musical surface. On “Endormie”, guitar plucks crystallize in real-time, while the voice of legendary Cranes vocalist Alison Shaw surfaces in frosted gasps. The result is a calming and inescapable melancholic pull. Elsewhere, the massive leitmotif of “Disconnected” evokes images of a lonely neighbor practicing his weathered 6-string in a barren room while explosions overtake his home and psyche. Twine have crafted their most highly polarizing and fully realized record to date. Violets casts a haunting shadow and its many inspirations, from the largesse of world affairs, to the minutiae of domestic life, reinforce its startling relevance in an age of cultural fracture and discontent. " Vertical Tones And Horizontal Noise " - Dc Recordings - 2006
Psychedelic / Alternative / Electronica

Here at the DC nerve centre we thought it impossible that the voluptuous "Aimee Tallulah Is Hypntoised" album could be surpassed, which just goes to show how far beyond human comprehension the powers of The Emperor Machine actually are.

The second full length transmission from the collosal robotic brain spinning in outer space (but beaming directly to Stafford), also known as The Emperor Machine, and the plaudits appeared like flies on a badger carcass when this came out - too numerous to count and multiplying all the time.

Featured on this album are most but not all of the tracks that appeared on the six vinyl series "Vertical Tones And Horizontal Noise" also the sordid pop genius that is "No Sale No I.D." as well as numerous deviant sonic interludes; the hypnotic "Avalution..." tracks, and the penetrating "Something From The Cox-Doree Institure". " Noise Won't Stop " - Kill Rock Stars - 2008
Electronic / Post-Punk / Experimental/

The NME declares, "Shy Child are to Kraftwerk what The White Stripes are to Led Zeppelin!" And here is their story... Nate Smith (Drums) and Pete Cafarella (Vox / Keytar) met at Wesleyan University in the mid-90's where Nate had invited Pete to join his band. Although Pete was kicked out a few days later the two formed a fast friendship that would eventually lead to the formation of Shy Child once they both had relocated to NYC. Initially the band was pursued when time permitted between their various projects. They recorded their 2004 album, "One With the Sun" with small expectations and an even smaller budget, recording it in Pete's apartment to a computer with Chris Zane for the price of pizza and beer. It would prove to be just enough…

The band caught the attention of producer Paul Epworth (Kate Nash / Bloc Party/ The Rapture) at SXSW and soon they were in the studio working on new material along with the band's previous producer, Chris Zane (Les Savy Fav/ White Rabbits / Asobi Seksu). The resulting album, "Noise Won't Stop" bristles with frantic energy and blistering tones leading with the first track "Drop The Phone" and featuring the U.S. debut sonic single, "Astronaut". And producer/artist extraordinaire SpankRock, lends a his rapping/vocals to the slickest albumJol track "Kick Drum." Kill Rock Stars

" Choose A Bright Morning " - Drowned in Sound - 2006
Shoegaze / Alternative

19 Jul - Bazart - Den Haag
20 Jul - Patronaat - Haarlem

With the shoegaze revival really starting to gather pace, this Swedish four piece (Uppsala for the pedants) look well positioned to land on top of the pile - not by peddling the same old shit, but through shirking the role of revisionists in favour of a naturally evolved sound. Opening with previous 7" 'From Across The Sea', Jeniferever guarantee Kevin Shield references a-go-go from lazy journalists the world over (us included...), as a broiling cowl of creamy soundscape wallops into properly dramatic jangle-guitars and hushed vocals. It's a corker. From here on in things progress at a similarly breathless rate, as Jeniferever massage elements of Sigur Ros, My Morning Jacket, Mum and Elliot Smith into their widescreen vision. Never crossing from the epic into pointless bombast, songs like 'A Ghost In The Corner Of Your Eye', 'The Sound Of Beating Wings' and 'Magdeleno' manage to sound genuinely huge without resorting to the usual box of tricks - succeeding where many have failed as crushingly personal themes are framed within a broader context. Radiohead - In Rainbows

These wily boys may have a secret album-title exchange program with Kelly Clarkson, but everything else about In Rainbows is typically hard-rocking Radiohead. Like every other Radiohead album except Kid A — still their most famous album, but they only made it once — In Rainbows has uptempo guitar songs and moody acoustic ballads, full of headphone-tweaking sound effects. All of it rocks; none of it sounds like any other band on earth; it delivers an emotional punch that proves all other rock stars owe us an apology.

In a brilliant move, Radiohead released In Rainbows via optional-pay download; I paid $5.27, in honor of my mom's birthday. Almost all the songs are already familiar to fans from live versions, but here they become expansive new creations. "Arpeggi" and "Bodysnatchers" ride on white-heat rhythm-guitar overdrive, while "House of Cards" is a fragile lovers-rock ballad closely resembling Dusty Springfield's (and the Byrds') "Going Back." "All I Need" has erotic pleading ("I'm an animal trapped in your hot car"), sad chimes in the "No Surprises" mode, and an ominoso synth-piano rumble.

On 2003's Hail to the Thief, Yorke's vocals were all punk rage, but here his voice has an R&B lilt that suits the songs' romantic directness. The end of "Videotape" is the only time the band dips back into dated glitch-blip electronics. Otherwise, the music is full of vividly collaborative sonic touches, from the Gary Numan synth-nightmare drones of "All I Need" and "House of Cards" to drummer Phil Selway's surprisingly deft way with his brushes and woodblocks. No wasted moments, no weak tracks: just primo Radiohead. Hell, I'm going back and tipping them another quarter just for the finger-cymbal solo on "Reckoner." rollingstone, Rob Sheffield , Oct 10, 2007
