zZz + Saelors = Light Light

I've been hearing talks for quite some time about the new zZz formation with two more band mates but actually never heard anything, yesterday by pure randomness two facebook friends liked something called Light Light around the same time and because they are two guys known for their always excellent music choices had to investigate immediately. First visit on Light Light facebook page i could see on the profile picture Boris and Daan two of the most recognizable faces from the Amsterdam underground scene the mega cool punk-organ duo zZz one of the biggest and best Dutch gifts to the music world, unfortunately for my incredible bad luck missed probably the last two gigs in Amsterdam cause i was on holidays and that sucked hard time. zZz shows are some of the craziest wild things i've seen live and i sincerely miss seem them live but they've moved on and now im very curious to see there new band live. The only track available as Daan Schinkel organ all over it, Bjorn Ottenheim backing vocals and sounds like a pretty solid Indie song that will easy see the light of the charts with no problem at all but its to early to make any judgments so we gotta wait for more, about the other band dont know anything but from the info available are a Amsterdam sort of mellow freak folk so make the track "Guru" like a logical idea from what could be the result from this music Amsterdam merge.

"Narrated by Academy Award® Winner Forest Whitaker, BEFORE THE MUSIC DIES is an unsettling and inspiring look at today’s popular music industry featuring interviews and performances by Erykah Badu, Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews, Branford Marsalis, ?uestlove and a wide variety of others. The documentary film has built a passionate following as “the most important film a music fan will ever see” (XM Radio) by providing “a balanced overview of the state of the rock scene of America” (The Wall Street Journal) and adding “passion to the eternal debate about the industry” (The New York Times). Last year, BEFORE THE MUSIC DIES filmmakers Andrew Shapter and Joel Rasmussen walked away from traditional Hollywood distribution to instead pursue a large-scale grassroots release with B-Side Entertainment. Since its release in November 2006, the film has screened over 200 times in over 130 North American markets with hundreds of additional events anticipated worldwide during 2007. Use this site to learn more about the film, where you can see it, ways you can own it, and - most importantly - how you can get involved in sharing it with others."

In an effort to establish new platforms for public art and performance,
the multimedia duo SWEATSHOPPE has developed a new interactive technology that enables them to explore the relationship between video, mark making and architecture. Dubbed "video painting", this technology allows them to essentially "paint" video onto any surface. Shooting in Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan, the duo spent weeks documenting their work in urban settings to create "The Landing" the first in a series of episodes that showcases their work as artist, technologist and performers. This video shows 4 full uncut extra clips form the landing.

Alexander “Sandy” Calder—American printmaker, painter, sculptor, illustrator, and designer—revolutionized the art of sculpture by expressing movement with his invention of the “mobile,” a word coined in 1931 by Marcel Duchamp to describe Calder’s kinetic, and often whimsical, sculpture. The son and grandson of Philadelphia sculptors, Calder was trained as a mechanical engineer before studying at the Art Students League in New York, where he was a student of the urban realist painter John Sloane in 1923. Later inspired by the geometry and color employed by Spanish surrealist Joan Miró, whom he met in 1927, Calder began sculpting with continuous strands of wire that rendered volume without mass. Critics described these works as “drawings in space,” which later led to his “paintings in space”—constructions of abstract shapes cut from thin sheet metal and painted with primary colors. When attached to metal rods and suspended in midair, Calder’s “mobiles” hover and continuously shift with every air current. The flat, colorful shapes often resemble streamlined birds, fish, leaves, and stars, which adds an additional playful—and celestial—quality to Calder’s work. A major contribution to the development of abstract art, Calder’s floating compositions challenge the notion of sculpture as static compositions of mass and volume by focusing on the ideas of open space and transparency. uky
