Lorelle Meets The Obsolete - On Welfare

I guess in past few weeks i've been saying a lot this is one of the most mind-blowing releases you gonna be lucky to listen this year, its a fact that there is something really astonishing happening in music these days, the best is its not from here or there but from everywhere and not about big rock starts or even big budget recordings but all about the small bands that with the help of the Internet, music blog and the current love for psychedelic garage rock music make this a global explosion of awesome independent music !!!!

Lorelle Meets The Obsolete is the new name you can add to the multiplication of the mega awesomeness South American bands, hailing from Guadalajara, Mexico and with a collection of psychedelic rock anthems filled with lo-+fi garage blasts, serious mind-cracking landscapes, like a warm fuzzy South American road trip where a army of cactus raise and march into the beats of Lorelle Meets The Obsolete and make the ground shake all the way from Guadalajara, Mexico into Haarlem North Holland ... I guess you get the point, its freaking stunning !!!!!!!

Anton Corbijn - Inwards and Onwards

Anton Corbijn - inwards and onwards
Photography Museum Amsterdam
23 June - 1 September 2011

"Foam is proud to present Anton Corbijn's most recent photographic project. In it he has aimed the camera at a few of his favorite artists, including Gerhard Richter, Alexander McQueen, Richard Prince, Iggy Pop, Anselm Kiefer, Damien Hirst, Tom Waits, Peter Doig, Bruce Springsteen, Lucian Freud and Karel Appel.

Corbijn's love for the musical and creative spirit is already well known. Collaborating on a short film (Some YoYo Stuff, 1993) with artist Don van Vliet - also known as Captain Beefheart - made his appreciation for the painter clear. This probably also had to do with the fact that his grandfather was a painter. The project strippinggirls which he produced with Marlene Dumas in 2000 also had an influence on his interest in the painter.

Anton Corbijn is interested in how artists struggle with the creative process: the pain and the drama of the act of creation. His monumental black-and-white portraits blend austerity and aesthetics and attract attention because of the deliberate and exacting way they capture the character of the person being portrayed. The work shows Corbijn's concentrated gaze, his feeling for wonder and his ability to empathize with another." Foam

Niall O'Brien Photography

"Born in Dublin in 1979, Irish photographer and filmmaker Niall O'Brien studied fine art photography in the renowned Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology.

He has exhibited at a number of Irish and English shows and has many awards to his name, including the Irish Professional Photographer's Association Rex Roberts Medal and two main categories in the ICI Photographer of the Year Award. In October 2008 Niall was accepted into the top 20 portfolios in the International Portfolio Review, Bratislava. He continues to exhibit throughout Europe.

His commissioned work is of a gritty, contemporary style, which seamlessly blurs the boundaries between the conceptual and the aesthetic. His growing collection of intimate portraits concentrates on unusual subjects with whom Niall develops a close working relationship. Niall's long-term project "Superheroes" came from a film which he made in 2006 and has been an on-going documentary about adolescence and desire."

Zack Christ - Lucky Pork / Far East Side

For the past few month i've deep down the noisy garage hole and lo-fi sounds and was quite disconnected from the electronic music world, this week i was caught by surprise with the debut Ep from the Danish producer Zack Christ that is dubbed as post-dubstep or beats but in reality is something much more surprising and interesting, it was obvious that the whole dubstep army at some point was going to mutate into IDM, Broken Beat and Glitch.

I never thought i would see a day where i would listen to something that would get just for a tiny similarity to one of my all time favorite albums, 2007 Vladislav Delay "Whistleblower" the dub glitch infused techno minimalistic micro abstract orgasms.

Lucky Pork / Far East Side as all in it but with a hip pop beats school that makes it more muscled but its a wide open window to one of my favorite music genres "Glitch", the only possible way to explain this is fire crackers in the ski falling in slow motion or Jackson Pollock dripping masterpieces.

So the question is, is a Vladislav Delay successor found ?? judge it for your self and whatever the answer is this is one of the most sublime electronic releases i heard in a lonnnnnng time.

The Band in Heaven - Demos

The Band in Heaven are a noise trio from Orlando that makes minimalistic but intense raw wall of shoegaze sounds that could be almost a borderline with the running lo-fi dream pop with a super bass reverb and sweet distortion to make it even more heavenly as the band name suggests, all this to say that they have quite a unique sound that ranges a whole-lot of influences but all very well measured. Certainly a catch for any Jesus and Mary Chain or My Bloody Valentine

Summer Bummer, and Suicide Pact are absolute stunner's in this super cool collection of demos.
