Watch | Regal - Toi Toi

"Regal, French band formed in Lyon by ex members of Last Rapes of Mr Teach and current members of Le Pêcheur.
The four youngsters from Regal, who look like they just came out of a book by Jack Kerouac, play Garage music.
Their primal influences are definitely rooted in the sixties, Back From The Grave and Garage Punk Unknowns compilation series come to mind first, but Regal is far from being a Revival Garage band.
The guys have been listening to the Black Lips a lot, that's for sure, and two of the twelve tracks on this LP are nice Folk or Americana songs on which acoustic guitar meets Irish fiddle. Not really surprising when you know that Regal's main singer, Caelan O'Flaherty, also playing the guitar in the band, is of Irish origins.
Certain tracks on "Possible Endings" might lead us to fields freshly cultivated by bands like the Indian Wars but the four black sheeps from Regal still feast on that good old grass originally planted by the Seeds and then cultivated by the Black Lips or the Weakends (...and a sip of red wine!).
Twelve "home-recorded" tracks on a nice piece of wax, artwork by Antoine, Regal's drummer, and co-produced with AzBin Records, brand-new record label created by Xavier, the other guitar in the band (who was the drummer in Last Rapes)."

Few month ago i send some pictures to the Subbacultcha indie Dutch zine and good music promoters project " After Midnight " , some of the pictures were selected on the first draft and later printed on a booklet, i was invited to the launch of the booklet in Amsterdam but the guys @ Subbacultcha decided to make something so cool that it wasn't cool at all ... half of the booklet was printed so dark that you couldn't see the pictures ... serious guys ... all you needed to do was to print the pictures because after all this was about pictures and not your sense of hype and fashion. my pictures on "After Midnight"

Last weekend was one of the events that raised more expecations "Sail 2010",
i actually planed my holidays between Sail and the Cello Biennale.

"SAIL Amsterdam is the largest event in the Netherlands which is free to the public. In 2005 the event drew 1.8 million visitors, who gave SAIL Amsterdam 2005 high marks. SAIL Amsterdam 2010 will take place from Thursday 19 August to Monday 23 August 2010 on and around the IJ river.

SAIL's main attraction will be the impressive fleet of Tall Ships, sailing heritage craft, modern ships, naval ships and replicas. In addition to this, every day there will be a varying programme of all kinds of cultural and sports activities. The theme of SAIL 2010 is ‘a nautical encounter between the past, present and future’.

The idea behind SAIL Amsterdam originated during preparations for the celebration of Amsterdam's 700 years of existence in 1975."

We were very luck and caught a ride because Eve decided to make a break, anyway for 10 eur pp we got a kick ass view of the boats ...

Since its publication in 1865, Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland has delighted the world with a wildly imaginative and unforgettable journey, inspiring children of all ages to suspend disbelief and follow Alice into her fantasy worlds. This new gift edition presents Carroll's tale fully unabridged with a unique visual interpretation by renowned artist Camille Rose Garcia. Harper Collins

Watch | Camille Rose Garcia behind the scenes

Camille Rose Garcia was born in 1970 in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in the generic suburbs of Orange County, where she visited Disneyland and went to punk shows with the other disenchanted youth of that era. Her paintings of creepy cartoon children living in wasteland fairy tales are critical commentaries on the failures of capitalist utopias, blending nostalgic pop culture references with a satirical slant on modern society.

Among those featured in the exhibition are Truman Capote, Salvador Dali, Christian Dior, T.S. Eliot, Duke Ellington, Grace Kelly, Rudolf Nureyev, Al Pacino, Edith Piaf, Pablo Picasso and Harold Pinter.

This video shows a summary of various student's projects displayed at the TROIA pixel room in Bremen, Germany in 2006. The projects are the results of a class called "Live SDI", which took place at the HfK Bremen (University of Fine Arts) in 2005/2006.

They are experiments with light, sound, emotion, ambience and space, meant to be more than mere video displays, creating an animated room. The walls contain real LED pixels, which makes a difference from normal video projectors. If all lights are turned off, the room turns pitch black. All lights on is increadibly bright. The room has a refresh-rate of 50 Hz, so the impression of the live-performance was quite intense.

The project was challenging, but fun to carry out, sadly enough we never managed to have a huge club-party in that room, due to security issues.

Alexander Rodchenko - Revolution in Photography
Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam
18 December 2009 - 17 March 2010

Foam presents a unique retrospective of the world-famous Russian avant-garde artist Alexander Rodchenko. The exhibition will contain more then 200 vintage photographs some of which have never been exhibited in the West before. Alexander Rodchenko (1891-1956) is one of the great innovators of twentieth-century avant-garde art and one of its most versatile practitioners. Having first gained international acclaim as a painter, sculptor and graphic designer, Rodchenko took up the practice of photography in the early 1920s, convinced that it would become the artistic medium of his era. Over the course of the following two decades he developed a bold new vocabulary of acute camera angles, extreme foreshortenings of perspective and close-ups of surprising details. In addition to introducing design as an integral element of photography, Rodchenko’s approach balanced formal concerns with an interest in documenting the social and political life of the Soviet Union. In the process, he helped to change the way people perceived not only photography, but also the role of the photographer. Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam

Narrated by Dustin Hoffman, VISUAL ACOUSTICS celebrates the life and career of Julius Shulman, the world’s greatest architectural photographer, whose images brought modern architecture to the American mainstream. Shulman, who passed away this year, captured the work of nearly every major modern and progressive architect since the 1930s including Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, John Lautner, and Frank Gehry. His images epitomized the singular beauty of Southern California’s modernist movement and brought its iconic structures to the attention of the general public. This unique film is both a testament to the evolution of modern architecture and a joyful portrait of the magnetic, whip-smart gentleman who chronicled it with his unforgettable images.

No other living creature features as heavily in contemporary character design and art as the humble hare. But what exactly makes bunnies so irresistible to artists, designers and illustrators worldwide? Depending on the viewers' cultural context rabbits can symbolise anything from insanity, alertness, defencelessness, all the way to promiscuity, magic powers and utter innocence. By condensing the endless variations of the rabbit motif into one ultimate system - a perfect bunny mandala - the true nature of the beast emerges: the eternal essence of rabbit.

Pictoplasma (http://www.pictoplasma.com) asked internationally established and upcoming character designers, illustrators and artists around the globe to send in their versions of rabbits, bunnies, hares and everything in between. The result is a full-scale bunny overdose, with far more than 1.500 individual rabbits from 500+ international contributers. Visual Complexity

This site is dedicated to the thought that something as simple as fun is the easiest way to change people’s behaviour for the better. Be it for yourself, for the environment, or for something entirely different, the only thing that matters is that it’s change for the better.

Take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator and feel better” is something we often hear or read in the Sunday papers. Few people actually follow that advice. Can we get more people to take the stairs over the escalator by making it fun to do? The Fun Theory

Paint a Future is a charity founded by the Dutch artist, Hetty van der Linden.
Hetty travels all over the world, painting with disadvantaged children. She tells them to paint their dreams and that the dreams they paint might one day come true.

Established and well-known artists from many different countries are inspired by the dreams the children paint, incorporating them into their own works of art. The paintings are sold and the proceeds go directly back to the child - helping to fulfill their dreams and create a better future for them and their families.

By purchasing a painting you are not only buying a work of art for your own investment and enjoyment, you are helping a child build a better future. Paint a Future
