A day in Amsterdam : The Anomalys "Retox" videoshoot, Regal live at House of Rising

Few weeks ago received a sick invitation from the Amsterdam garage punkers The Anomalys to be part of the videoshoot for "Retox" the upcoming EP on Slovenly, the video filming took place in Amsterdam's NDSM island at a little place that used to be a underground hangout with some quite peculiar surroundings and decoration, the best way to describe the place is some sort of naval bunker and the place was so tiny but we manage pretty fine ... it was complete sickness, 6 or 7 takes from "Retox" and each one getting wilder and crazier than the previous one and with lots of free booze to warm up the spirits cause it was sooooo freaking cold, the video is coming out if im not mistaken 13 March and i can't wait to see it !!!!!



After the Retoxing sick afternoon went to Miguels place to have dinner with some local friends and the French garage rock band Regal on transit to a concert at The House of Rising ... Miguel is soon to be my flatmate cause after 4 years in Haarlem im finally moving to Amsterdam on the 15 March .. whop whop whop ...





REGAL was a freaking blast, the sound was far from perfect and the voice was like at the end of the tunnel but like i said to the guys "This is not a symphony", they played really tight, fast and loud, they used the minimum resources and made it fun for everyone inside ... a real tribute to a garage rock concert ... well done boys :)



Mercie to the Stephane Serra from "L'apero Du Patron" best French delicatessen in Amsterdam and for helping put up the gig for Regal ... and Mercie also to the girls behind the bar all perfect too ... and for everybody that came on a freaking freazing night THANK YOU !!!!!!

Champs and Champetes ... last friday was a total blast and The Anomalys proved once and for all they are a class apart.
A full house with loads of friends from all sorts of nationalities a great ambient and loads of awesome music by really good Dj's and a surprisingly excellent Vj-Set, i would say perfection of the highest level.

For a lot of people this was their first gaze at The Anomalys live and the reactions were of total wonder, until now they only had access to net videos and my reviews, they totally fired a blasting set from the first second. it was the 3rd time i've seen them live and i can say that their set now evolved into a superior good old fashion Noisy Trash Garage, i'm always stunned with the drummer Menmen, he doesn't stop for a second and gives Bone (Vocals/Bass) and Gilian (Guitar) a frenetic rhythm and complete freedom to party away, i would say that in another country they would be stars by now, around here the separation between the underground and the world above its almost as Earth and the Moon ... its good that is keeps that ways because it will be a well kept secret and the music will be raw, honest and fun above all.

For me they are the real Amsterdam ...

The Anomalys, Club Tarantula Storing Haarlem

Last Saturday was the first edition of Club Tarantula in the Storing Haarlem , hats of to the organizers, an excellent selection of music and a great ambient almost like a small flavor of the epic parties in the Phoenix 13.
Everything was good, as expected The Anomalys were freaking awesome, the dj's were Joost from ET Explore Me and Dj Ted, both superb and i dance my socks of.
Haarlem needs more nights like these guys, next one please :)






Last time i saw the Amsterdammers The Anomalys was in the Sleazefest and it was late and i was pissed, i think it was late because when they finished as far as i can remember was daylight, all i remember is people jumping all over the place, the drummer having a violent monologue with the drums, the guitar making sonic riffs and the lead singer climbing up the walls and playing harmonica, stuning to say the least.

This time it was early i had fever and only two beers before the concert started, the scenario was repeated but this time i could flavor almost every drop of sweet that was flying from the stage, outstanding Memme sets the pace and bangs on that drums with speed light frenzin, guitarist Potlood`is all over the place like a flying acrobat and Bone gives the coordinates. I guess the point is taken... go see them live its a frocking blast

The Anomalys "self-titled" debut album is now out on Slovenly Recordings and is good as they are on stage, pure Rock N Roll, Garage-Punk and it was a long time since i heard something as good and solid on stage and on record.
