Happy Birthday is Kyle Thomas (aka King Tuff), Chris Weisman, and Ruth Garbus. They formed in November 2008 to play one show at the punk-space “Tinderbox”(RIP), in their hometown Brattleboro, Vermont. Kyle needed a band to play his new pop songs because he was too scared to play by himself. They enjoyed playing with eachother so much that they decided to keep doing it.

Kyle sings and plays lead guitar. The songs are mostly his, but the band arranges and finishes them together. He is also a painter and drawer and loves top 40, shoes, texting, comic books, etc. Ruth Garbus plays drums and sings. She also makes her own music and art. Chris Weisman plays “inverted-tuning” guitar, bass, and sings. He makes 4-track songs, enjoys reading and writing, and is a guitar teacher. Sub Pop

This year winner of The Skateboard Film Festival was the film "Indonesi'am" directed by skateboarder Sébastien Abes. Six French skaters went to Indonesia the less expected skateboard paradise and rolled around for the delight of the locals.

International film, art, poetry and music cross-over festival.
EYE Film Institute Netherlands presents the Film Biënnale, featuring unique film events at special venues throughout Amsterdam from 7 to 11 April. The programme was created in collaboration with the Museum of Modern Art in New York, which will present a selection drawn from its internationally renowned film collection.

The Film Biënnale showcases film productions which blur the boundaries between different artistic disciplines, merging music, art, theatre and poetry. The festival kicks off with the screening of The Man with the Camera (1929) by Russian film pioneer Dziga Vertov. The Michael Nyman Band will perform the soundtrack as a live accompaniment.

Great stuff from Baltimore's Double Dagger , really fresh sounds with a bunch of very cool influences , its a post-punk with more intensity that could sound something like The Fall with The Death Seat

This mini-series takes an in-depth look at the lives and times of the unique people who spent exclusive time with Andy Warhol and worked at the Factory during the silver sixties, making it all click as a new counter-culture arose and began to exert its influence throughout the arts scene in New York. Features never before seen footage and intimate interviews with the Warhol “stars” who knew Andy best, including Billy Name, Ultra Violet, Gerard Malanga and Taylor Mead.

It's been a full year since Will Oldham was in Rock Island for this encore taping. It was St. Patrick's Day circa 2009. There was a parade happening nearby, with all kinds of non-Irish folk wearing green hats covered with sparkly glitter and shamrocks. It was relatively warm, under a sunny sky and we had burritos and specially ordered coffees and teas waiting for the Bonnie Prince Billy and his band. Oldham had been here about three years prior to this visit and to this day, we are still eternally grateful for his generosity and the kind words he's spoken to others about what Daytrotter is. He was here and gave us a shot when we were nothing and we couldn't be more honored than to have had this modern master as a repeat offender.
