Heavy Ghost - Ten Thousand Years

Fantastic ep from Illinois Heavy Ghost, "Ten Thousand Years" as quite a lot of influences that goes from heavy Shoegaze to lo-fi electronics and psychedelic percussions, awesome combination if you ask me.

Graham Franciose

"I've been drawing for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a very artistic and creative family, and credit them with my decision to pursue art as a career. When I was in college getting my BFA in illustration I was trained in photo-realism; however, after noticing that everyone's work looked very similar I decided to veer off and find a style of my own. Growing up skateboarding, I was always influenced by "low-brow" and "street" artists who really inspired me to do something different." Graham Franciose

World Minimal Music Festival Amsterdam 2011

"Five days of crystal-clear music, DJs, film and talk shows
Hypnotic, repetitive and breathtaking: since as far back as the 1960s, minimal music has been entrancing people with deceptively simple means.

Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in Amsterdam and Muziekgebouw Frits Philips Eindhoven are paying tribute to this exceptional genre with a programme which includes music from Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Simeon ten Holt, Michael Nyman, Gavin Bryars, the Mandara Mountains in Cameroon and Machinefabriek.

Bass Drum of Death - GB City

Amazind debut album from Oxford Mississippi noisy garage rockers Bass Drum of Death, "GB City" will be out on April 12th via Fat Possum.

"John plays guitar and sings and Colin plays the drums. Together they make blown-out, blazing songs. They are set to release their debut LP GB City on Fat Possum Records. John was Fat Possum's worst employee 3 years ago. He wrote and recorded the whole record himself using just a drumset, a guitar, a usb microphone, a computer, and a shitload of talent. The songs are about drugs, trying to make it with religious girls, panic attacks, stealing stuff, mild to severe depression, Elvis appearing in your dreams and giving you advice, gravity bongs and the devil living inside your brain. This record is the soundtrack playing in your head when you're fucked up and walking home in the middle of the night." Fat Possum

Ringo Deathstarr 05 March @ Irrational Library Patronaat Haarlem

Ringo Deathstarr was a foking show, loud and noisy as f.ck, it was smashing.
Despite all the tec problems it was a blast, Elliot was trying to get sound but is guitar was dead, nothing was happening, someone brought a cable and reconnect pedals and amplifier and the sound came back with loads and loads of feedback, Elliot said to the sound guy, please can u make it louder ? there was a strident sound crawling the café and Elliot faced the public again: " Sorry, we are touring and this is the best we can do" and then BANG there was magic in the air !!!!! The audience went completely crazy, hectic jumping and shouting and incredibly part of the show, i was on stage banging on the tambourine, there was a dude playing bass and also saw lorelei on stage singing with Elliot the amazing Ringo frontman. EPIC !!!!!!! Probably one of the best concerts i've seen in Patronaat since Dutchess Says ... and if you no what that means !!!!! it was the best birthday present ever !!!!!

Ringo Deathstarr left a trail of love and noise in Europe and they are coming back around summer time ...

listen in full to their amazing dedut album "Colour Trip" here

Ps. The girl in white, Lorelei is a friend of mine and it looks like she's one Ringo's Deathstarr :)

Ian Francis solo debut in New York city @ Joshua Liner Gallery

Ian Francis "Fireland"
March 3 to April 2, 2011 Joshua Liner Gallery

"Joshua Liner Gallery is pleased to present Fireland, an exhibition of new paintings and works on paper by the British artist Ian Francis. This is Francis’ first one-man show at the gallery and marks his solo debut in New York.

Working in mixed media on canvas, Ian Francis combines abstraction, figuration, and elements of both painting and drawing to create distinctly contemporary works. His robust approach uses a range of techniques including acrylic, oil, charcoal, ink and graphite, all deployed in a spontaneous, seemingly off-the-cuff manner. Below this active “surface,” however, are subtle notes of melancholy, alienation and social critique, revealing a nuanced regard for contemporary mores.

Francis draws inspiration and raw material from cinema, pornography, street culture, and images sampled from the Internet, synthesizing these sources into a quasi-literal vision of the “mediated” landscape. Among the exhibition’s mixed-media paintings and selection of works on paper, a number depict urban street life and the complex interactions that occur when random souls collide. Amid high-color washes and jagged brushwork, youthful figures have a reckoning on park steps in A Boy Returns Home Not Realizing How Much He’s Changed. The cityscape is fragmented and unsettling in Walking Down a Street a Person is Crushed by Light, a poignant work that intimates the hardships faced by the elderly and other vulnerable beings among urban dwellers."

Ian Francis is one of my current favorite painters/illustrators and soon will be an interview at Audiopleasures
