Katzwijm Records, Label Night at the Patronaat
uÁu, there's are a lot to tell about this two gentleman.
The Pignose Whilly's are Haarlem's Club Tarantula boys Joost Varkevisser and Pieter Kamp, both played in one of the Dutch greatest Garage bands Pussycat Kill Kill Kill, Joost is also the front man in my favorite Dutch Band ET Explore Me, Joost and Pieter also share the turntables under the name Pietertje Pep & Gijsbert Versgemalen celebrating the whole Dirty Trash Rock N Roll Blues Garage music.
Pignose Whilly is a raw, dirty and trashy Blues, its awesome fun to see them play together, that last Harmonica feedback from Pieter was epic and Joost as ever a stage monster, whatever they are into as a quality seal on it.
" Dirty down blues trash from the city streets of Haarlem."

Last night my head blew up with the Dutch Sonic Shoogazers Space Siren .
Before the how's and why's a little retrospective, Sonic Youth is, was and it will be one of my favorite bands, now the problem always was that their shoes were never filled properly, they were a couple of good bands, Autolux, Electro Group and Airiel that filled my head with sonic distortion but could neve replace the sacred monsters. Last year Autolux "Transit Transit" was quite a disappointment because they went to soft and forgot the noisy formula that made them a cult band.
Back to the blow my head of last night, Space "Sonic" Siren blasting in a small room and unloading their noisy striped out of any fancy flourish sounds supported with the wonderful shoogazing melting voice of Gwendolien that seriously sounded like Kim Gordon on stage, uffff u gotta love this !!!! Just straight forward laboratory psychedelic magic pills. These guys know what they are doing and a great future for this band fo shu, Just keep the noisy floating and everything will be alright !!!!

Avant-Garde Lushus make a combination of sounds that goes from Funked New Wave to almost Jazzy Punked, at same point i felt in the air a present of a Belgium ghost called Deus and their first album "Worst Case Scenario", not very often that i experience that ... two bass girls definitely entertaining

VTech Premiere: Bilal’s Levels Directed by Flying Lotus
The Sounds of VTech / Bilal Levels
"VTech and Plug Research bring you the premiere of Bilal’s newest video “Levels,” directed by producer Flying Lotus aka Steve Ellison. FlyLo makes his directorial debut with this visually stunning video for Bilal that features him alongside Erykah Badu, Thundercat, and Shafiq Husayn (who produced the track).
When FlyLo recently discussed the concept of the video he said, “I originally wanted to keep visual themes with another video from my last LP called ‘mmhmm’ off of my last album. It featured Thundercat as an intergalactic bass player in a super strange world created by ‘Special Problems’. Since Thundercat was part of this song, I thought it could be fun to continue the visual style and feel of this space opera. In the end you have this crazy video made of so much mixed media, geek dreams and lots of love.” This is the third video off of Bilal’s latest album Airtight’s Revenge, which also features the Grammy nominated track “Little One.”

The Orwells - Oh! Well
Yesterday discovered this wonder Garage kids by pure accident and the first thing that came out of my head was "The Sonics", that's how good they are. The Orwells are a bunch of young kids from Elmhurst Illinois and make a brutal and raw sound that would sound like a better and raw version of the Strokes.
Their 2010 second album "Oh! Well" is a brilliant Garage revival where you can easily spot loads of influences from The Stooges to The Velvet Underground and even some high and low's nineties characteristic riffs from the alternative juice bands like the Pixies and Nirvana. Most definitely a band to watch really carefully in the coming years.
As a twisted note, i asked my flat mate Scotty what year he thought this album was recorded, he answer 1977 !!!!!

Kroonjuwelen - Hard times, Good times, Better times
"Kroonjuwelen is an unique timedocument which pictures the history of graffiti in Amsterdam from late 'punk' 70's till mid 'subway bombed' 90's. The reconstruction of an upcoming sub-culture where the viewer is led through Amsterdam by many interviews with writers like Shoe, Delta, High and many more. A film filled with special and never seen before footage"

Richard Skelton - Landings
"Since the release of the genre-defining ‘Marking Time’, the music of Richard Skelton has been widely celebrated for its raw, organic beauty, its honesty and restraint. Whether the work has been under his own name or under one of his many shadowy guises (A Broken Consort, Riftmusic, Carousell, Clouwbeck and others) there is a level of skill, a sureness of touch, and an emotional resonance that is virtually unparalleled by his peers.
‘Landings’ is the culmination of four years of recording on the moors and hillsides of Northern England. The resulting album isn’t simply a suite of songs in the mould of ‘Marking Time’, but a form of diary; a dialogue with the landscape itself. It is imbued with a real sense of narrative – and of place – that is both epic in scale and yet intimate in feel." Type

Karl Netherfield, Madular
Sometimes weird shit happens, i meet Karl in a almost tragic circumstances, a drunk afternoon in a Amsterdam park with a violent end, partly my falt but that is all past, what matters now is the future.
In the first hours of 2011 Karl show me a awesome track that he did with is brother back in sweden, i was gazed with the stuff he show me, it really reminds me of the sounds in these really old compilation, "Free Zone Horizontal Dancing", early IDM and all very experimental, what i see in karl is a lot of talent and vision, you can almost imagine is brain pulsations when you listen to this stuff.
I know for a fact that he his crazy about Drum n Bass but what's happening here is giving a intelligent kick and specially a lot of soul !!!!
Im very happy to bring an exclusive preview of my buddy megalicious sounds

Swimsuit - Peace Gull
" Peace Gull was a limited cassette of all instrumental Swimsuit jams released on my label sometime this last summer. There were around 50 copies and it sold out pretty quickly. I've been meaning to post a download link to the mp3s for a while, so here it finally is. This tape is some of my favorite of the Swimsuit material because it just kind of washes by in a really soft, basement blur. I hope you like the sounds if you haven't already heard them."

Portraits of American Firing Squads
Was listening to some of the stuff that i got on my email and found this rather funny name.
Portraits of American Firing Squads has a really odd name and i thought it was literally pics of firing squads, that would give a nice post for sure, but no, Family in the Armed Forces is the drone/ambient/experimental project of Brooklyn based Austyn Sullivan.
Best drones i heard in along time and as a reference the best way to explain it is going back to awesome drone project from New Orleans "Belong", same sort of vibe, its like swimming all the way down to the bottom of the ocean and listen to all sorts of magical sounds full of reverb and the waves crushing against the shore and the sounds that would come back all the way into the ocean, Austyn Sullivan drones are so rich that its not to far from being a tremendous shoegazer.
Listen to the fullness of Family in the Armed Forces

Logical Progression 16th Anniversary at Melkweg Amsterdam
Hell Yeah !!!! gonna hang out with my Drum N Bass budies next friday on this mega party next friday in the Melkweg Amsterdam
Line Up: LTJ Bukem, Goldie, Fabio, Doc Scotte & MSC & D Virus, Conrad, Moose & Warren G
"From 1995 LTJ Bukem and the Logical movement have constantly pushed drum&bass into a new galaxy of sound, combining chilled atmospherics, sultry strings and crisp basslines. Logical Progression’s conception came from the passion and belief that a unique musical voice needed an uninhibited platform to express itself from.
On January 14th 2011, Melkweg Amsterdam is that platform, as LTJ Bukem returns for an installment of the infamous Logical Progression club night. During the mid nineties Melkweg was the first club in the Netherlands to host drum&bass nights, where young LTJ Bukem made his first appearance in 1996. Now almost 16 years later it is time to look back. The second overseas edition of Logical Progression offers a selection of celebrated DJs, all of whom have inspired or influenced LTJ Bukem himself, in a master class of drum&bass featuring the best music from 1994 till 1998.
