Absolutely sick power Post-Punk coming from Berlin, don't no much about these dudes except that the band was created solely to open for a Total Control gig in Berlin, 2/3 of the band hail from Australia and just a touch of curiosity that one of my favourite sounds coming from Berlin White Hex are also Australian Berlin residents, this 7" banger is totally for those in touch with the Vikings bands like Holograms, Ice Age and Cola Freaks. "Pick A Line​/​No Accent 7" is out on Iron Lung.

Rad and awesome sounds from Gurr garage rock girl duo from Berlin, Andreya Casablanca and Laura Lee Jenkins make megalicious trashy, lo-fi, delinquent teens sounds than can be tagged as Bratpunk like the Philly trash girl duo Slutever, gonna have to bring them to Amsterdam soon :)

Fenster live @ Goethe-Institut Amsterdam 15 May 2012

Have tons of good memory's about this night, great band, building, wine, friends and it was relaxed, laid back, fresh and luckily not another boring vintage party that seems to be drowning Amsterdam out of reality, anyway we had all the good stuff that really matters in one go. Spotted the Berlin based chamber dark-pop trio Fenster on Subbacultcha's mail, the concert took place in a superb Baroque room with magical views to the front canal and back garden all served with really cheap and good wines at the Goethe-Institut. The concert was delayed because unfortunately the band got robbed of some of their possession while unloading their gear and that sucks big time. Despite this incident the band was motivated and they were absolutely tremendous, it looked like all the sunshine that seems to have disappeared from Amsterdam was now all inside that room, i never heard anything from the band until that day except for a two track EP but i was seriously blown away with their creative energies and also simplicity, Fenster is poetic, dreamy and just like a surreal theatrical play where you get dragged by its minimal but strong percussion rhythms surrounded by silky voices, echoes, melting bass lines and layers of gentle guitar. Fentser live is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and the band debut LP Bones is now out on Morr records and here you can STREAM the whole album cause is seriously cool.

Simply breathtaking the sounds from White Hex, original from Australia and now based in Berlin, the "Tropical Goth" duo Jimi Kritzler and the intoxicating Tara Green make obscure and haunted post-punk with rumbling gorgeous bass and lush distortion lines, sexy beat rhythms reminiscent from Joy Division, Bauhaus and more recently the insane amount of freaking awesome Goth and Dark Synth Waves bands pouring a bit from everywhere, the best way to describe this in a actual context would be certainly joining some bands that passed this blog before like Tropic of Cancer, Pure X, HTRK, Troller and Sleep ∞ Over ... Splendid *****

White Hex debut "Heat" should be out in the summer and im quite excited about this.

Nils Frahm - Felt

The wonderful label Erased Tapes has released the newest piece of art from the Berlin based pianist and composer Nils Frahm. I got more acquainted with the work of Nils Frahm last year with the his duo with Anne Muller excellent "Seven Fingers" exploring Modern Classical, IDM and sonic glitchy soundscapes with a lot of class.

"Felt" not altogether so different but explores the intimacy of a Modern Classical raw piano with a soft pop sensibility in a stunning and introspective way the use of space and silence like his predecessors Sylvain Chauveau and Rachel Grimes, guaranteed to be a wonderful soundtrack to gaze at Mark Rothko masterpieces.

Track nr. 2 "Less" is a absolute masterpiece exploring the subtleness of those elements together with microcosmic field recording ambients.

"Originally I wanted to do my neighbours a favour by damping the sound of my piano. If I want to play piano during the quiet of the night, the only respectful way is by layering thick felt in front of the strings and using very gentle fingers. It was then that I discovered that my piano sounds beautiful with the damper."
